I used the Garmin at lunch and it was great. I decided to take a different route halfway through, and I liked that I could easily still track my distance. I saw some interesting stats at first glance... My loop included about 1250 feet of uphill and an equal amount of downhill since I started and finished at the same location.
I also liked the calories burned function, which should be close to accurate since it has my weight and captures my heart rate during the whole run.
Now I just have to read all the instructions so I can learn how do the different workouts and create my own.
